Richard A. Singer, Jr. www.YourDailyWalk.org
Publisher: BookSurge PublishingInterviewed By: Heather Froeschl 02/15/2006 This is a powerful book; "Your Daily Walk with the Great Minds of the Past and Present," is a tool for inner peace. For those who are looking to make a change, or just a journal to enjoy, for those who are into learning from the teachers in their lives along their chosen path and for those who have never given spiritual growth a single thought, this book is for you. Enjoy it, give it as a gift, and watch the transformation of humanity. HF: In fifty words or less, describe your book to the world. RS: My book is a daily guide to personal transformation. The principles contained within form the foundation of successful living. If each being in this universe were to practice the daily principles in this book there would be a profound transformation in all of humanity. This is a book that humanity desperately needs. HF: What was your inspiration for writing it? RS: My inspiration completely came from my inner being. I believe the universe wanted this written and I was chosen to write it. For years my journey was a preparation for this book. All my inspiration is derived from my soul’s primary purpose and that is to help other human beings. Without this purpose, life does not have much meaning for me. HF: What qualifies you to write a self-help book that deals with the mind and soul of the reader? RS: I believe that being a human being with an inner genius qualifies me to write this book. When anyone taps into this inner genius I think that Universal truth is revealed. As for worldly qualifications, I have been on a journey of the soul for many years and have read numerous writings concerning these subjects as well as having a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology. What truly qualifies me is that I am a human being seeking and discovering truth on a daily basis. I have been able to go beyond the boundary of societal and programmed thinking and discover the truth that lies at the core of the human being. HF: From where did you obtain your degree? RS: I received a scholarship to College Misericordia where I completed my Bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary Studies. From there I went to Marywood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania where I completed my Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology. I was entering a Doctorate Degree program when I was given an opportunity to relocate to Grand Cayman. Currently, I am enrolled in a Doctorate program and working toward my PhD in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in Humanism. However, the best education in my life has been my daily journey. Life has taught me more than any institution. The universe is a great teacher. HF: Did the idea for a daily journal-type book stem from the treatment of alcohol and drug addiction recovery in a “one day at a time” process? RS: Well that’s how I first began living 24 hours at a time, however I have progressed to living in the NOW. I believe this is all life consists of,“just the moment.” I really think that reading a whole book is very enjoyable, however reading a page a day and applying what you have read and making that a part of your life seems to me to be much more effective in a practical sense. This type of book changes the way one lives a moment at a time and I believe in its power and capacity for transformation. HF: Your voice in the book seems more zen-like than psychological based; have you studied Eastern Religions? RS: Yes I have actually. I truly enjoy and use a lot of eastern wisdom in my life. Zen especially. I’ve studied all religions and continue to do so. My spiritual life exists of the integration of many religions. HF: On that note, do you feel you are enlightened? RS: I believe that the journey of my life is a process toward enlightenment. My life is always a work in progress, thus I will never be truly enlightened. I will always be improving, but I will also always be a human being. HF: How long did it take you to compile the daily quotes and then create the meditation and journal prompt to go with them? RS: Basically, my whole life has been research for this book. As for the formal process, it was about six months of constant hard work on a daily basis. Fortunately, I had the constant inspiration of the universe and a tranquil beach beside the Caribbean Sea to join me in my journey. HF: What age group do you think would most benefit from this book? Is there such thing as being too young for it? RS: This book can be beneficial to individuals from adolescence on. I think some of the concepts are a bit complex for children. However, I do believe these basic principles need to be taught as soon as possible in a child’s life. These are foundations for healthy living and the younger they are learned the more transformation in the world there will be. Hopefully, these principles will be adopted by older human beings and passed down to the younger generations. That is my wish and dream. HF: Do you feel that the text reaches out to people of all religions? RS: Yes I believe that anyone with a belief in something higher can benefit from this book. This book in no way is based on religion. It is a spiritual text about freedom, peace, and personal transformation. It is free from rules and boundaries. HF: Are there more books on the horizon? RS: If I were inspired by the Universe to create another tool for the use of humanity I would never say no. We will have to see where the universe leads me. I have had many ideas but not quite the calling yet. Hopefully, this book will help many, but if just one person lives a better life because of it my job is complete. The transformation of one human being will result in the transformation of many other individuals as well as humanity as a whole. HF: You seem to have come into your own ideals, with a fulfilling job, living in paradise, and publishing a book that is sure to help thousands of people. Do you feel this is the fulfillment of your life’s journey? Would you be where you are now if not for the dark times in your life? RS: I have done my best to align with my universal purpose and the passion that lives within me. I still have plenty more to do and will keep going strong. Each day I am presented with opportunity for further growth. I am far from fulfillment of my purpose; a moment at a time I continue to pursue what I was put here on earth to do. Everything in my life made me the person I am today. It was all exactly the way it was supposed to be. In all the dark times I learned valuable lessons that I use today to help other human beings. If I had to go back again I wouldn’t choose anything different. My life is an adventure of growth and transformation.
HF: What one thing do you want readers of your book to come away with? RS: I want them to know that they are capable of greatness and personal transformation. And that they can contribute to universal change.
HF: What one thing do you want readers to know about yourself? RS: That I am an ordinary human being pursuing my dreams with passion, persistence, and determination. I’m just one individual with an intense passion for humanity.
I am an open book.
