Do you eat, sleep and breathe King James? Are you filled with the passion of Christ? Are you looking for a more bio-technical argument linking man and God? If you fall into the above category, then Dr. David GastonĘs merging of Creationism, Intellectual Design, and light scientific observations is exactly what you are looking for.
Clones reads a bit like a textbook, and at times is rather dry, but is well edited. Comparable in size to the Bible, I think it makes an excellent companion for anyone who feels called to insert GastonĘs arguments into the story of Genesis. Packed with Biblical references and with more footnotes than you can shake a stick at, I recommend that folks just turn to their family Bible and read these two books side by side rather than trying to flip back and forth.
Readers who are not completely in harmony with the teachings of King James will find quite a few outrageous leaps of logic within the pages of Clones. For example: references are made to the age of the Earth as only 6000-7000 years old which science has disproved. While Gaston certainly has some interesting things to say, his re-packaged fusion of Creationism and Intellectual Design is unconvincing when a discerning scientific mind compares his theories to that of Darwinism. Additionally, much of his argument from the first few chapters is repeated throughout the book in different forms, which was a bit too repetitive for me to handle.
Leaps of logic and repetitious arguments aside, I appreciated the overall idea and message of self-responsibility that permeates Clones. Certainly, any spiritually- minded person will appreciate and respect GastonĘs idea that each individual can strive to live in harmony with the Divine, which (for those of us who are romantics) would inevitably lead to a more peaceful planet.
