The attention riveting saga of Karin Muller's journey along the Inca Road brings new insight into the pre-history and later developments of the once powerful Inca Tribe. We are reminded of the fabulous fortunes in gold which were lost to the Spanish invaders, and shocked at the events which lead to the wholesale death and destruction of most of the tribe. Karin Muller endured and accepted the hardships of the road. Eating the native foods, sharing the primitive shelters offered along the way, and studying the various religious and cultural practices, were all a part of her experiences.
This is not intended to be a gloomy review of her book! All
the unpleasant aspects of the journey are accepted as a
matter of fact. Many of the sights and events are praised
in lyrical prose. There is so much to savor that it should
be read at leisure and with full attention.
