Tales of Adventure & Discovery is a delightful collection of short stories for children. Written and illustrated by Mary Emma Allen, who for over 30 years has been writing children's stories for magazines and newspapers, this little book is a gem of children's fiction. The stories are from the heart and home, reflecting an understanding of children and childhood in a way that reaches out to children and lets them feel connected to the stories. Mary Emma speaks to the children through her written words, and tells them that they are understood and admired, and that their wishes really can come true. There are also lessons to be learned, but they are introduced incognito, through engrossing tales and captivating characters. Here is a compilation of tales such as you might have heard on the front porch swing, at dusk, while visiting grandma and grandpa. Here too is a book of tales that every grandma and grandpa would do well to keep handy for visits such as those.
A companion to this title has just been published, the Tales
of Adventure & Discovery Coloring Book, written and
illustrated by Mary Emma Allen. Each page contains either an
excerpt or a picture to color from the tales in the parent
book. While this title could be enjoyed alone, it makes a
wonderful extension to the stories and leads children to
even more discoveries of adventure in their own lives and
imagination.
