  • Does the connection of true friendship last forever? I think that we all hope for something so deep. I am blessed with a friend such as this, and I found that same feeling in "Eternal Journey." Anna and Beth have been friends for almost as long as they could remember; the two had weathered everything life threw at them, until life was interrupted by death.

Cancer takes three of Annie's friends away. Her mother always said that bad things happen in threes. But when Beth dies, Annie is lost. She needs to escape and find herself again. Borrowing a house on Martha's Vineyard seems to be the answer. Annie opens her soul to the past and is comforted by memories of her childhood with Beth, her mother and her grandmother. She gives herself permission to examine her life after meeting a soul who is gentle and kind, thought provoking and sincere. This stranger appears around the island at times when he is most needed. How can this be? It is like he can read her mind and suddenly appear.

What Annie discovers will open her mind to explore her beliefs in spirituality and inspire her to embrace the friendship and love that continue to surround her. What you can learn here is up to you, but the possibility of discovering something or reaffirming a belief, is very good.

Carol Hutton has created a wonderful story of self-examination, love and friendship. This is an intense tale of some of the lessons we must learn on life's journey. Her writing is superb, succinct and beautifully executed. You will come away with "Eternal Journey" having touched your heart and lifted your soul, and perhaps paying a bit more attention to your own surroundings.
