  • Blues Guitar Chords and Accompaniment: The Ultimate Step-by-Step Guide to Playing Blues Rhythm Guitar! by Yoichi Arakawa is an excellent step by step guitar guide that can not only teach the beginner, it can brush up the advanced player as well. This text is beautifully illustrated with clear pictures, diagrams, musical illustrations and all that is needed for the complete musical package.

Arakawa breaks his guide into the following chapters after his brief introduction: Basics, Basic Open Chords, 12-Bar Blues, Barre and Movable Chords, Power Chords and Boogie-Woogie Style, Fingerstyle Blues, and Various Blues Accompaniment Styles.

Each chapter offers clear concise instruction, reinforced with diagrams, pictures and musical notation significant to that chapterĘs theme. Page spacing and presentation is attractive and welcoming to the reader. With ample space for personal notations to self without taking away from the presented lesson. The reader will find space available at the end of chapters specifically for practice and self notation to provide an integrative learning experience for the reader.

I found this text to be one of value for any guitar player looking to try or brush up on this flavor of guitar work: Blues Rhythm Guitar.

Despite the correctable spelling error on the cover: rhyhm verses rhythm, I would highly recommend this text and will keep it in my music reference library to use for instruction in the future.
