If men had a category like Chick Lit, this book would be among the list. Touch-Down Jesus is clearly a manÆs book, or maybe it could be a glimpse into the world of man for women. In three novellas the author demonstrates the inner makings of being male. In the first story, ôTouchdown Jesusö we read about a young man making a start in life in a new town, buying furniture at a yard sale, falling for his older landlady, experiencing the death of an acquaintance and realizing that he isnÆt so affected by it all. In the second story, ôYes, My Best Friend Was a Dreamerö, the author tells a story, much like a letter home, that is akin to hero worship and includes a bit of a mystery. The third story, ôEasy Come, Easy Goö, is by far the best of the three. I would even go so far to say that this story might do better for the author on its own. Three guys set out on the Great American Road Trip. They realize they donÆt get along all that well, but have some inner epiphanies and do some growing up along the way, in between seeing some of the more interesting spots in the USA.
T.D. Hogan offers an interesting look at being young, male and American. One isnÆt sure how much of the book is autobiographical, which supports the theory that this is good writing. IÆd be willing to bet that there may be more heard from this author in the future.
